Sports
Students enjoy basketball, soccer, cricket, badminton and yoga as part of the school curriculum and showcase their talents, group as well as individual, at the sporting events of the school:
A curriculum for Physical Education is in place to ensure that children are trained in loco-motor skills, physical fitness, body control skills and object control skills, besides being exposed to the aforementioned sports at age appropriate levels.

Co-curricular activities ensure the harmonious growth of personality in children. It is a source of strength for streamlining the talents of the child. It also helps to improve the analytical thirst for knowledge, competitive spirit, communication abilities, value education, leadership skills, teamwork required to excel in all facets of life. This brings out the competitive spirit amongst the students, which is one of the most important characteristics in today’s world to achieve success. To inculcate all the above qualities various activities are organized in the school.
Exhibitions
Yet another remarkable event i.e. Exhibitions are put up in the school on various subjects like Science, Social Science etc. Admirable effort is put up by the little children who proficiently carry out all the events


Maths Lab
The mathematics lab is a place where anybody can experiment and explore patterns and ideas. It is a place where one can find a collection of games, puzzles, and other teaching and learning material. The main objective is to increase the quantitative aptitude of children through Abacus, fraction kit and solid shapes. The activities create interest among students and help to dissolve their fear of numbers.
Library
The school library is well equipped with books on different subjects and topics. It covers the journey from comics to encyclopedias. The children are subjected to different books and encouraged to read them.


Trips and Tours
Educational trips are organized monthly as to provide an opportunity to the children to see and learn. Children have visited places like Sudha Car Museum, Shilparamam, Birla Planetarium, Post Office, Assembly etc.
Computer Lab
The students are exposed to computers right from the very early years. They visit the computer room to familiarize themselves with the basic computer operations like keyboard handling, mouse handling in the initial years and then carries on to advance software like Visual Basic, Macro-media Flash, Advanced MS Office, Adobe Photo-shop, C++, Net-beans and Java.


Medical Room
The school caters to the health of the students and provides fully equipped medical room with emergency medical cover being provided by trained medical staff.. In order to make them aware of their personal hygiene, several workshops are conducted on healthy eating and oral hygiene. In addition to taking care of the day to day emergencies a medical checkup of every student is done once year which includes an eye and dental check up.
Science Lab
Science is different from any other subject. In order to understand its concepts, one has to look beyond the books and conventional classroom teaching. Effective teaching and learning of science involves seeing, handling, and manipulating real objects and materials. To impart this knowledge, a high quality science lab is offered by the school to its students. Here kids actually observe the process and understand the relationship between action and reaction.

Arts & Crafts
At the Department of Art, the primary objective is to guide students in interpreting their thoughts and converting them to forms of artistic expression through the use of different techniques.

The Performing Arts curriculum encompassing Indian and Western dance and music as well as theatre has been shaped with a vision of enabling and encouraging our students to engage in the creative, expressive and responsive processes of the arts throughout their lives. It aims at giving the students a strong foundation in the cultural history, knowledge and technical skills of dance/ music/ theatre so that our students sustain a meaningful, lifelong relationship with performing arts – as artists or as enthusiasts.
At the heart of a Visual Arts curriculum are knowledge and skills that foster creativity, while respecting individual differences in appreciation and expression. The curriculum is simple and stimulating seeking to empower students to explore their own creative prowess as they experiment with different media and go through a varied range of art, craft and clay modelling activities.


Annual Day Events
Our Annual Day events aims at weaving together the various aspects of performing arts. Every student eagerly waits through the year to participate in the exciting fanfare of songs, music, dialogue delivery, costumes, and stage lights and is keen to perform for their families. Each event allows every student to celebrate their space on stage and under the bright lights!
Dance and Music
The students learn Indian classical dance forms, with special emphasis on the dance forms of Kathak and Kuchipudi, along with different Indian folk dances. The department also has a dance club; the two work in tandem to hone the ability, skill and confidence of the students. Various seminars and interactive sessions with great dance gurus and music maestros are arranged for the students to better their understanding of Indian classical dance.
The Department of Instrumental Music (Indian) aims to promote classical Indian instruments, like the sitar and flute, amongst the younger generation. In this department, our young classical musicians have mesmerized many with their euphonious melodies on countless school events. Apart from performing at school functions, students of the department regularly participate in various music festivals and competitions, bringing laurels to the school through their amazing talents.
Students are taught various instruments such as the guitar, the keyboard, the bass guitar and the drums. Students are encouraged to not only achieve mastery over technical skills, but to play soul-stirring music with passion. In addition, students learn about the evolution of music and have other interactive sessions where their music appreciation is fine-tuned. Each student is made to sing in order to develop his or her confidence and stage presence.
The Department of Vocal Music at GD Goenka School, Hyderabad aims to spread musical awareness amongst the students. It gives exposure to the talented and upcoming singers of the school, offering them the opportunity to perform at various events and school gatherings. The aim of the department is to realize and develop the musical potential of budding performers is developed by the Department. Singers and musicians of this department enthrall the audiences with their splendid performances at every major school event.



Photography
Students learn technical aspects which emphasizes on the importance of capturing the emotion of the subject of the photograph. Regular workshops, camps and trips to various cultural and heritage sites are organised for the students with the intention of initiating a more practical approach towards the subject of photography. The students hold an annual exhibition of their best photographs of the year, on topics of social, moral and cultural values.
Dramatics
Young actors are taught how to approach their role and portray their character to the best of their ability. With the skills they learn and hone, students regularly put up spectacular theatre performances in various functions in the school.


Parents in Education
Parents are a big human resource for the school. With their varied life experience and fields they are working in, parents working hand in hand with the school authorities’ helps school progress manifold. We at GD Goenka School, Hyderabad leave no stone unturned to tap this ocean of potential.
The Parent Teacher Meetings which are a forum for parent interaction and participation in most of the schools but our association is much beyond this formal forum. The parents are an intrinsic part of our school activities.
